Meet Namit Malhotra, CEO Of DNEG, The Company Behind Creating VFX For Dune- The Film Which Is Ruling The Oscars

The science-fiction epic-  Dune earned a slew of awards at the Academy Awards 2022. And it won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in one of the categories. DNEG, a London-based visual effects and animation company led by Indian-origin is one of the firms behind the film’s VFX. 

The company has previously won six Oscars for the films like Inception, Interstellar, Blade Runner 2049, First Man, Tenet, and Ex Machina. It has also created the VFX of Daniel Craig-starrer James Bond movie, No Time to Die, which was also nominated in the category. 

In an interview with News18, the CEO spoke, “It’s a great feeling. It’s the first James Bond movie to get a nomination in this particular category in many, many years. Dune, on the other hand, is the new benchmark of visual effects in storytelling.”

Dune is based on the classic novel Dune authored by Frank Herbert. The film has an extravagant cast starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. 

DNEG has made the mesmerizing visuals of TV shows and movies like The Dark Knight Rises, Sherlock Holmes, Dunkirk, Altered Carbon, Chernobyl, Last Night In Soho, Foundation.
