“Follow your passion — and if you don’t know what it is, realize that one reason for your existence on earth is to find it.”
When I had read this quote by Oprah Winfrey as a young woman, it had instantly struck a chord then, because I had already turned my childhood passion into a fully-fledged career. From an ardent and avid reader since the age of 7 to an English language editor with several workplace accolades and recognition by age 25 then. I had realized and followed my passion. However, as years progressed and life changed post-marriage, I decided not to climb up the corporate ladder, and instead became a freelancer.
Later, I met quite a few women in my neighbourhood or at gatherings who, when they learned about my flexible and lucrative work profile, took an instant interest in it. They would narrate stories of how they had a good career yet had to quit their jobs post-marriage or childbirth, but had the desire for financial independence. I would direct them to online job portals or gave them ideas but could do nothing much. But the thought kept lingering in my head about how desperate some of them sounded and how helpless I felt. It was that desperation that made me realize that there was more to my passion—the passion to help people. And the universe conspired. Things kept taking their due course, and Scribblers & Scribes happened in 2016.

We are a team of academic and scholarly content writers and copy editors catering to international publishing companies. The primary aim of my social entrepreneurship journey is to identify, mentor, and provide financial independence to eligible candidates pan-India. Our 25 plus strong workforce comprises students who work part-time to fund their education, women who have had a long career gap and want a balance between home and work, and freshers who do not want to move out of the state of Jharkhand for job opportunities.
It’s just the beginning and we strive to impact as many lives as we can.
