Shantanu Maheshwari, who turns 31 on March 7, is overjoyed, and this birthday is sure to be very wonderful for him. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bollywood, Gangubai Kathiawadi, has received positive reviews and has set the cash registers ringing.
According to the Hindustan Times, Shantanu exclaimed, “The reactions have been all positive. People are appreciating my work and chemistry with Alia (Bhatt). I am just very happy.”
The actor said that it was difficult to keep his debut a secret as the project was getting delayed due to the pandemic.
“[Not disclosing things for] three years is not a joke. Covid-19 stalled the release and it became difficult for me hide it. At one point, I wanted to announce to the world, ‘I am going to be a part of it’. But it had it’s own perks, in terms of not announcing to the world — it came as a shock to people,” said Maheshwari, who has been a part of shows such as Dil Dostii Dance and Girls On Top.
Shantanu has been praised for his performance in Gangubai by Sanjay Leela Bhansali as well. Shantanu also said that it was difficult to hide his role from his family as well as they were curious. However, in the end, when he is receiving all the appreciation, he said he felt satisfied.
