Dr. Shruti Sharma Grover is a trailblazer in the field of dentistry, combining clinical expertise with academic excellence. With over a decade of experience, she serves as the Director at Chandra Dental College and Hospital, while also co-owning the Grover Dental and Medical Centre in Lucknow. A dedicated academician, research supervisor, and prosthodontist, Dr. Grover embodies transformative leadership.

Her passion for innovation and skill development has made her a prominent figure in the dental community, inspiring future generations of dental professionals.

WS:  Can you share your journey into the field of dentistry and what inspired you to pursue this profession?

SSG: My journey into dentistry began with a passion for healthcare and a desire to bring smiles to people’s faces. I pursued my BDS from Dr. R.M.L. Avadh University, graduating in 2014. Over the past 10 years, I have grown from a dedicated student to a practitioner and academician. Today, I’m privileged to serve as the Director at Chandra Dental College and Hospital, as well as co-owning Grover Dental and Medical Centre. My inspiration lies in making a lasting impact on people’s lives by enhancing their confidence through a beautiful smile.

WS: What unique qualities and values does your institution, Chandra Dental College and Hospital, bring to students and patients?

SSG: Our institution stands out with its “prominent teaching pedagogies and service opportunities.” We prioritize quality education and skill development through eminent lecturers, demonstrators, and a thriving work environment. Students receive exposure to hands-on scenarios that enhance their proficiency. The philosophy of “The more you work, the more skilled you become” guides our placement strategies, ensuring students are job-ready. Our holistic approach bridges academics with real-world experience, creating better-skilled dental doctors.

WS: How do you balance your roles as Director, Consultant Prosthodontist, Research Supervisor, and Co-owner of a dental clinic?

SSG:  It’s certainly a multifaceted role, but I’ve learned to prioritize and delegate effectively. Each role feeds into the other. As a director, I’m responsible for strategic planning and fostering an environment of excellence. My role as a Consultant Prosthodontist allows me to remain connected with patient care, while being a Research Supervisor fuels innovation and academic growth. The co-ownership of Grover Dental and Medical Centre adds an entrepreneurial dimension, teaching me business acumen. Balancing these roles requires discipline, teamwork, and a deep passion for continuous learning.

WS: How would you describe your leadership style and its impact on your team and students?

SSG:  I’d describe my leadership style as “transformational.” It’s about nurturing individual strengths, enabling teamwork, and driving collective growth. My motto is simple: “You succeed, I succeed.” I encourage my team and students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace challenges, and develop solutions. This approach builds resilience and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. By creating a collaborative environment, we achieve both personal and institutional success.

WS: What message would you like to give to aspiring dental students and young professionals?

SSG:  My advice is to “Compete with yourself.” It’s essential to have an inner drive to push your limits and achieve new heights every day. Self-discipline and determination are your most valuable assets. Do not be afraid of challenges—embrace them. The field of dentistry is vast, and with dedication, you can master it. Stay hungry to learn, be patient with your progress, and strive for excellence in every endeavor.

WS:  What’s next for you in your professional journey? Do you have any new initiatives or projects in the pipeline?

SSG:  Growth and evolution are constant for me. I’m focused on expanding the scope of services at Chandra Dental College and enhancing our research initiatives. We’re working on projects that blend technology with dentistry, especially in prosthodontics. At Grover Dental and Medical Centre, we’re planning to introduce more patient-centric services, focusing on cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry. My ultimate goal is to set a benchmark in dental education, research, and patient care, inspiring the next generation of dental professionals to aim for excellence.
