Yoga is recognized to provide a variety of physical benefits, including the ability to keep one fit and nimble. Yoga, on the other hand, helps to improve mental health by reducing stress and anxiety. Malaika Arora, who regularly posts her favorite yoga postures on Instagram, recently discussed three stances that might assist boost mental well-being. The actor says, “Mental health needs equal attention as physical health”. The asanas are as follows:
- Adho Mukha Svanasana
Aside from its physical advantages, Adho Mukha Svanasana helps to relax the mind and cures headaches, sleeplessness, and exhaustion. It also improves blood flow to the brain.
How should I perform?
*Kneel on the floor, keeping your knees hip-width apart.
*Put your hand into the earth.
*Straighten both the elbows and the knees, with the heels on the floor and the ears on the inner arms.
*Raise your hips and form an inverted ‘A’ shape.
- Balasana
As it soothes and relaxes you, this asana is said to de-stress your mind as well as your body.
How should I perform?
*Inhale while sitting on your heels with your knees apart.
*Bend forward and exhale by lowering your brow to touch the floor.
*Swing your hands forward, arms parallel to your body.
*Hold this posture for two to three minutes.
- Sukhasana
Sukhasana, like the other two asanas, has a calming effect on the mind, reducing stress and anxiety.
How should I perform?
*Sit down and extend your legs in front of your body, crossing them at the shins.
*Place each foot beneath the opposite knee, with your knees open.
*Place your hands, palms down, on your knees. Maintain a straight face.
