Regular physical exercise not only benefits cardiovascular health and weight management, but it also plays an important role in thyroid function. Exercise stimulates thyroid hormone synthesis, increases cellular sensitivity, and improves overall metabolism.
Moderate-intensity aerobic exercise has been proven to improve thyroid function by boosting TSH levels and facilitating the conversion of inactive thyroid hormone (T4) to active form (T3). Additionally, exercise helps to reduce stress, which, as previously said, is an important element in thyroid health. However, it is critical to establish a balance since excessive activity, particularly when combined with restricted diets, can cause stress on the body and potentially impair thyroid function.
