Women in Corporate

Women have historically proven themselves to be the best caretakers, teachers, and nurses, but they need to work harder in the corporate sector. Only 23% of executives worldwide are female.

The percentage of women in senior leadership increased to 32.4%, according to Grant Thornton International Ltd.’s (GTIL) Women in Business 2023: The Push for Parity report. What women wage daily: The world of business is deeply political. The lack of a voice, a seat at the table, and unwelcome sexual advances are hurdles that women frequently encounter. Women are excluded from the business world because they are taught to submit and comply rather than to command and communicate from an early age.

Men governed the world with the sceptre of knowledge, and women are stereotyped as being less informed. Women must advance and seize possibilities.

One of the biggest challenges that working mothers face daily is overcoming the mom or family guilt. Indira Nooyi once remarked, “The first few times, I would die with remorse. My daughter would come home and would list all the moms that were present and say, “You were not there mom.”

I worked harder than anyone else so that people did not look at me as a woman. Indira Nooyi, Former President, Pepsico

My experience:

Men are from Mars and women are from Venus and Corporate is from Mars. There is no such thing as a second chance, as I just discovered during my recent internship with Protouch as a corporate trainer. If an opportunity presents itself, regardless of its size or form, one must fully put on the armour of rationale and begin the endeavour with the utmost earnestness. Any small technical, human or emotional error could lead to the cancellation of any agreement. Therefore, put your emotions aside, and let’s get technical, women.

What challenges are thrown at women:

Some critical challenges entail denial of promotions and bonuses, lack of succession, glaring disparities, and the glaring gender wage gap. The expression “come back” does not exist for men, yet women’s lives undergo numerous significant changes. The main difficulty for women in business is quitting the field at a particular age to start a family. How to stamp out inequities? Speaking at Business Today’s ‘The Most Powerful Women in Business event, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chair of HCL Technologies, urged the technology sector to foster an environment that welcomes women who are individuals who have paused their careers and are now resuming their professional activities?

At the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting, Arancha Gonzalez Laya, dean of the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA), remarked, “Power is very hostile to women.” Only 37% of women hold overall leadership positions, compared to 63% of males, according to the World Economic Forum’s 2022 Global Gender Gap Report.

However, the environment is shifting. The burgeoning brigade of women is a force to reckon with now! Leena Nair, CEO of Chanel, Indira Nooyi, former president of Pepsico, Kiran Majumdar Shaw, chairperson of Biocon Limited, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chairman of HCL Technologies, and the list is unstoppable. A woman with a vision in her bosom and power in her hand can significantly transform the world to be a better place.
