Sonu Nigam Awarded Padma Shri For His Melodious Compositions In The Music Industry

Singer Sonu Nigam was awarded Padma Shri by the President, Shree Ramnath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Monday. Sonu Nigam has been awarded for his massive contribution to the music industry. He has sung over 6000 songs in more than 28 languages. The glimpses from the ceremony were shared on the President’s official Twitter Handle.  The photo showed a joyous Nigam wearing an indo-western white outfit receiving the award of honor from the President. The caption of the photo read, “President Kovind presents Padma Shri to Shri Sonu Nigam for Art. A well-known singer and music director, he has sung over 6,000 songs in more than 28 languages. ”Sonu Nigam had already expressed his gratitude to the government of India for considering him for the honor. He said, “My heartfelt thanks to all those who selected me and suggested my name for this prestigious honor. I would also like to thank my mother, Shobha Nigam, and my father, Agam Kumar Nigam. In fact, I want to dedicate this award to my mother. Had she been here today, she would have cried a lot.”Sonu has songs in various languages like Hindi, English, Marathi, Kannada and has also been awarded National Award for his titular song from the Kal Ho Na Ho.
